Madonna opens Madame X Dance Studio
Madonna had these words for us, at the end of her one-day visit to Jacaranda School for Orphans, on 2nd January 2021:
"Jacaranda is a very special place. Not only because there are so many amazing talented children here but also amazing teachers and founders who are so passionate about what they do. It is contagious. (...) It’s great to see that you have created a place where children continue to come and learn and love what they do. Learn skills, from visual arts to designing clothes, to play musical instruments, to dance, which was my first love. So Jacaranda School holds a very special place in my heart. Keep up the good work everybody! Believe in your dreams!..."
Watch the above video that Madonna's team produced about her visit - when Madonna opened the Madame X Dance Studio that her non profit organization Raising Malawi financed. The studio will be a special place for our children to develop their skills in modern dance, jazz, hip hop, ballet and traditional dances. Madonna saw our school Arts programs firsthand - music, dance, visual arts, fashion design, photography - and her children David, Mercy James, Esther and Stella took part in the activities. Thank you Madonna and Raising Malawi for supporting the Arts at Jacaranda School!
