New library & Dance studio welcome our children

Our new primary school library and dance studio are now being used by our children. The brand new building (sponsored by Madonna’s non profit Raising Malawi, with additional funding from the Sprague Foundation) stands on a quiet corner of the Jacaranda compound. Madonna cut the ribbon with our founder Marie Da Silva during her visit to Malawi last January - and we have since finalized the finishing touches, as well as the interior design and furnishing.

Primary school children love their new library - as it is large enough to welcome an entire class. It holds over 3,000 books, from Standard 1 to Standard 8 levels. Upstairs, the Madame X Dance studio features a smooth wooden floor and mirrors mounted on the walls. Both primary and secondary school children go up the studio several times a week after classes, to learn ballet dance, afro-contemporary dance, as well as hip hop dance. New talents are already emerging - and new artistic ideas too!
